Intelligent file transfer saves time and costs
The larger a file is that needs to be transferred the more important are the so-called Smart Transfer functions. They accelerate the transfer and make it more solid. It can be extremely time-consuming and costly if a transfer gets interrupted through an unstable internet connection or if a defective file is discovered only after having it fully transferred. Generally the complete transfer has to be started again.
Interruption Tolerance
The Interruption Tolerance assures that after disconnections the transfer can be continued at the last position without starting it again. Due to technical limitations neither e-mail nor one-click-hoster are able to offer such a function for transmissions respectively for HTML-uploads. Also standard-FTP does not offer this feature. With these ways of transferring data it can happen, that an ongoing upload that has been executed for several hours has to be restarted just due to a disconnection.

Automated Error Correction
The Error Correction goes one step further. It assures while transferring, that those parts of a file that have already been submitted are complete and free from defects. If not, they are corrected automatically as far as possible. This makes sure, that the complete file was transferred error-free. The error correction avoids, for example, that a supposedly error-free transferred file can not be opened due to developed damage during the transfer.

Automated Compression and Decompression
For larger data quantities it makes sense to compress these before the transfer to reduce their size and therefor their transferring time substantially. According to the respective file format the transferring time can be shortened up to 60%. Additionally the needed storage space for intermediate storage on a data carrier is reduced considerably.
This process should be automatic in the background meaning files are compressed automatically at the sender and decompressed at the receiver. For the users this process should be completely transparent. They benefit directly from reduced transfer times without dealing with compression software manually.

Redundancy Prevention
It is very common in companies that the same files are sent multiple times by different persons. With each sending process, network and storage capacity are burdened.
Intelligent file transfer systems identify already transferred files and make the re-upload unnecessary. Ideally this happens completely transparent for the user. For the user the transfer just seems to be completed much faster than usual.
Going even one step further there are systems that detect to be transmitted files which differ only in parts from previously transferred ones and transfers only the delta.
